The family of a young lady, Jasmine Bush, has paid tribute to a schoolgirl who died just hours after picking up her GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) results.
According to Metro UK, they described Jasmine Bush, whose body was found at Haselmere Station, Surrey, as leaving a hole in their lives adding that she is ‘an everlasting start that will shine brightly in the sky’.
Paying tribute to the 16-year-old, they said that she had suffered from mental health problems since she was 13.
They released the tribute hoping that other young people in her position can learn from it and get help for depression and anxiety.
The family said: ‘On Thursday afternoon, our world was turned upside down when we lost our most beautiful daughter in these tragic circumstances.
‘Jasmine sadly lost the battle with depression and anxiety after two and a half years fighting, she was also diagnosed with autism and PDA disorder on the way unfortunately the help out there was limited.
‘We honestly would never [have] thought she would do something like this it just doesn’t seem real.
‘The house is silent, no doors are being slammed or music playing at a ridiculous noise and we think that will be the hardest thing to get over the quietness and the hole she has left.
‘Mental health is a growing issue in this generation, a lot of people just push to one side but it does exist and it does affect people in different ways.
‘If you are reading this and you are suffering, there is help out there and we would advise you to take it. We would just like to say thank you to everyone for the messages and the flowers on the bridge.
‘We know Jasmine can see them and she is an everlasting star that will shine brightly in the sky, hopefully she has realised that she was actually loved not just by her family but by friends as well.
‘RIP Jaz Love you. Ian, Nicky, Josh & Jordan Bush.’
Floral tributes have been left at Haselmere railway station by friends from Woolmer Hill Technology College where she was a pupil.
They have also been posting on instagram with one tribute saying: ‘Rip beautiful, fly high. You will forever be truly missed as the funniest and most mood lightening young girl. We will never forget you jazzy. I love you.’
Other instagram users wrote: ‘Best friends since day one, I love you and you’ll forever be in my thoughts. Forever. Until next time best friend’ and ‘My heart is broken! I miss you so so much rip my gorgeous, sleep well.’
An inquest into her death will be held at a later date

A bullion van loaded with an unspecified amount went up in flames Tuesday under Ojota bridge, Lagos
Report said that the van was driving inward toll gate, apparently to disburse the money in some banks when the unexpected happened.
The exact cause of the fire which occurred at about 2.30pm could not be immediately ascertained.
An eye witness , Mrs Moji Maitani, said:
“I was driving home when all of a sudden the vehicle directly in front of me veered to another lane. I quickly applied the break to avoid what the motorist attempted to dodge, only to discover that a vehicle was on fire. On further observation, it was discovered to be a bullion van. Its occupants rushed out and were flagging other motorists to demand for fire extinguisher. But I could not stop, in order not to be trapped in any disaster.”
Some eye witnesses said that the money stalked inside the van was completely burnt as the escorts could not go near the van, owing to the flames. Others however, said that some cash was evacuated before the van was engulfed by fire.
Managing Director, Lagos State Emergency Management Emergency, LASEMA Mr Tiamiyu Adesina who confirmed the incident, said officials of Lagos State Fire Service arrived the scene to put out the fire.

We have received reports concerning a young and vibrant Unilag Student, Ariyibi Ayomide who committed suicide by drinking sniper after she was allegedly set up.

Apparently, some belongings belonging to her colleagues in the same hostel where she resides were missing, and then she was fingered…. They searched her bag, only to find the items in her bags.. She was disgraced by other students in the school.

Ayomide then called her mum, a staff of the university, who later came to settle the matter.. Her mother paid N2,000, the value of what was found in her bags.. The mother then instructed Ayo to pack her stuffs home, which she did… She was “disgraced” while on her way home, as she couldn’t hold her heads up high.
Ayo arrived home, with her mom returning to work, only for Ayomide to drink sniper. A very poisonous substance.

Ayo was rushed to the hospital where she later died.

She was a 100-level student of Unilag from the faculty of business administration in department of Employee Relations and Human Resources Management (ER & HRM).

Read the Full Story Below:

An incident happened in her room (Amina Hostel) which involved the missing of belongings (which includes make up and clothes) of another girl in d same room. On Thursday, some of the belongings of the fellow room mate was found in Ayomide’s bag (scattered in three different bags – make up in one of of her bag, clothes in another bag and clothes in another bag making 3 of Ayomide’s bag).

As a result the roommates disgraced Ayo and called her many names (relating to a thief) and disgraced her publicly. Ayomide called her mum and her mum came down next day (Friday) to settle the issue. The make up was valued at #2000 in which Her mum paid. After that, her mum told her to pack her bags and follow her home which she did but as she was going the room mates shouted on her and called her so many names.

Her mum took her home and went back to work (her mum is a unilag staff). Ayomide was the only one left at home when she took sniper in the afternoon. Her mum came back in the evening and saw her child in a critical state. So she asked what happened to her; Ayomide just stretched her hand to do bottle of the sniper she took.

Immediately her mum gave her palm oil but results were not forthcoming. So she rushed her to a medical centre at ebute metta, still results were not favourable, she was then taken to Luth (Medilag).

Ayo gave up in LUTH around after 7 yesterday.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has refused to attend a meeting with the Federal Government scheduled for today.
ASUU President, Biodun Ogunyemi, confirmed to Channels Television that the union will not attend the meeting.
According to him, ASUU has met, discussed the new offer from the FG and submitted a proposal to the government.
He said consequently, the union will only honour another meeting after receiving a reply to their proposal from the government.
The meeting was confirmed in a statement issued by the Deputy Director, Press, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Samuel Olowookere, late on Monday, which was called by Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, following the failure of ASUU to get back to the Federal Government after both parties met on August 17, 2017.
Others expected at today’s meeting were; the Ministers of Education and Finance, Mallam Adamu Adamu and Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, the Chairman, National Income Salaries, and Wages Commission, Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission and the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Ayuba Wabba.
The Union declared an indefinite strike two weeks ago, citing the failure of the government to implement agreements reached with the union in 2009.
The National President of the union, Dr. Biodun Ogunyemi, announced this at a meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of ASUU in Abuja.
He said during the strike, there shall be no teaching, no examination and no attendance of statutory meetings of any kind in any of the union’s branches across the country.
Dr. Ogunyemi declared a ‘total, comprehensive and indefinite’ nationwide strike after a nationwide consultation with members at an emergency NEC meeting held on Saturday, August 12, 2017.
He explained in a statement issued after Saturday’s meeting that their decision followed the failure of the government to fully implement the 2009 FGN-ASUU Agreement and the 2013 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The ASUU president added that related demands made by the union were yet to be addressed, which was why they resolved to embark on an indefinite strike from Sunday, August 13, 2017.
Investigations into the murder, rape and mutilation of 8 year old girl, Victory Chikamso in Rivers state, by a University of Port Harcourt UNIPORT undergraduate, Ifeanyi Dike on August 18th, has taken a new twist as the Rivers state Commissioner for Police on Monday ordered the arrest of a Divisional Police Officer over the escape of Ifeanyi on August 19th
Ifeanyi was arrested on Saturday, August 18th while trying to dispose of the body of the deceased whom he had raped, killed and cut off vital organs of her body for the purpose of using it for money rituals. He was immediately taken into custody at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Port Harcourt but on Sunday, he escaped from detention.
A police officer, Johnbosco Okoroeze, who was in charge of the detention when he fled has been dismissed and also charged to court on two counts of obstruction of justice and conspiracy.
Investigations so far carried out by the police, shows that the arrested Divisional Police Officer had a long telephone conversation with the dismissed police officer just before the suspect escaped.
The police say the DPO has some explanation to make.
Meanwhile Ifeanyi, the prime suspect is still at large but the man who allegedly sent him to kill and get body parts for rituals, has been arrested.

Cultists Attack Lagos State Poly Students’ Hostel, Injures Four StudentsFour students of the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu, were injured on Monday in an attack unleashed by cultist on a private students’ hostel.
According to PUNCH Metro reports the attackers stormed the hostel under the pretext of searching for a stolen laptop. They were, however, repelled by some occupants, who doubted their claim.
Only for them to return moments later in large numbers, calling out the name of a National Diploma student.
In the ensuing confusion, four students were said to have been injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Punch’s correspondent, during a visit to the hostel on Lasunwon Lambe Estate on Tuesday, gathered that the injured students attempted to defend the ND student, who had earlier complained of threats from some cult members who wanted to initiate him into their group.
A witness, who identified himself only as Bayo, said;
“When they first came in the afternoon, they said they were searching for a missing item. They said the person that stole it passed through the estate. We engaged them and they failed in their attempt to gain entrance.
“Suddenly, around a few minutes past 9pm, a larger group came and started calling the name of one of us in the hostel to come out.
Immediately they called his name, we remembered that he once told us that some people were disturbing him to join a cult. Some of us went out and we asked others to stay with him in the hostel. Four of us were injured after confronting the cult members.”
The President of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria in Lagos State, Dr Saheed Ashafa, lamented that the hostel attacked was predominantly occupied by male Muslim students of the institution.
He noted that the report sent to the MSSN in Lagos State by its LASPOTECH branch indicated that the attackers targeted a Muslim student in the hostel for initiation.
He said:
“Our members in Ikorodu were attacked by cult members in their hostel last night (Monday). According to the report sent to me early this morning (Tuesday), they were trying to initiate a Muslim student, so they wanted to intimidate students in the hostel where he resides to get their way.
“I was informed that they had been threatening him in the school with the support of a lecturer. They had access to the hostel at first by claiming that they were searching for their missing laptop. They later went there in a large number. Some students sustained injuries, but have been treated and discharged.”
Ashafa said the incident had been reported to the school management and the police authorities.
