A startling discovery has come to light and left the administration of a secondary school in Kopsiro division, Mt Elgon Constituency shocked after they found out that 20 girls at the institution were pregnant. The pregnancies at Chelebei Secondary school were discovered after the school’s routine check-up usually conducted after students resume from their holiday breaks.

“It was a simple pregnancy routine test that we normally carry out when the girls report back from holiday and from the results we discovered that 20 of our girls were pregnant”, Deputy Principal David Emachar stated.

According to Mr Emachar, 4 of the teenage girls aged between 14 and 20 are form four students, 8 are in form three, 6 in form two while 2 are in form one.
The incident is reminiscent of the 2014 case where 18 girls dropped out of school at Chepkurkur Primary School in Mt Elgon due to pregnancy

Reports have it that the conduct of JAMB CBT test recently has dented the image of the honourable Minister of Education who has given a strong warning to the leadership of the body.
Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu
A top official of the Federal Ministry of Education, who pleaded anonymity has told the Daily Times in an exclusive chat that the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, had scolded the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) over the shoddy conduct of this years’ examination and the myriad of controversies that have been trailing the exercise. The official also disclosed that the Minister is preparing to make appropriate representations to the Federal Executive Council to effect a leadership change at the agency.

‘’Ojerinde’s time appears to be running out fast at JAMB, not with the controversies this time including failure in the technology, late upload of released results, wrong posting of scores with some candidates being awarded greater than what they actually scored while others had their scores downgraded,’’ the official said.
As if corroborating the above concerns, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, admitted that challenges associated with Computer Based Test were partly technical which in time will be addressed.
Addressing journalists on the conduct of the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations, the JAMB Registrar urged Nigerians to embrace the Computer Based test as a benefit to the Nigerian child and also work with the board to ensure its success.
Prof. Ojerinde, who said it is becoming a war conducting examinations in Nigeria following the activities of owners of special centers, accused proprietors of tutorial schools of being behind the protests which was recently carried out by candidates of the last UTME, who stormed the Lagos State House of Assembly recently to protest alleged maltreatment by JAMB in the examination.

– Bishop Oyedepo has said that a doctorate degree is only but paper, except the knowledge acquired is used to impact lives

– The founder of Winners chapel made the disclosure to some PhD graduates of Covenant University in Ota, Ogun state

– Oyedepo lamented over the numerous situations in which those certified with PhDs, have little or nothing to offer

– The bishop promised to fund projects carried out by few PhD graduates of Covenant University (CU)

David Oyedepo, the presiding Bishop and founder of Living Faith Church worldwide, has said that an inability to identify problems and solve them, renders every PhD degree useless.

While addressing few PhD graduates of the Covenant University (CU) in Ota, Ogun state, Oyedepo urged people to come up with innovations that can solve problems plaguing the society.

The Chancellor, told them their inability to do so would mean their research programme was useless.

Bishop Oyedepo promised to make funds available to them to identify problems and find solutions.

Spoke at a meeting with the young scholars, Oyedepo said Nigeria has been unable to address its challenges because of a lack of capacity to get the job done.

He decried situation in which PhD holders seemingly lacked the thinking capacity.

He said: “I have come to provoke your potential. There is more inside you than the earned certificate. If you cannot think out solutions to problems, your PhD is a complete waste.

“When we say Doctor of Philosophy, we are saying master of thinkers; someone committed to finding solution to life’s problems. And until our learning translates to thinking, our PhD is zero.

“All that we have done going through the rigour of PhD is to ignite our thinking capacity. It’s so important that we have what it takes to recreate our country and the world.

” Hinting that Nigeria has more PhDs than four European countries, Oyedepo wondered why Nigeria was not getting similar result as the Europeans.

“The gas turbine (at CU) was not working because Shell was on strike. So why can’t students of Chemical Engineering build reserves? Why do we look at problems as if we are not concerned?”

Oyedepo said the scholars must learn to management themselves, time and task, to be able to provide solutions to problems.

He noted that the scholars must learn to manage themselves, for qualitative production.

Meanwhile, Oyedepo has challenged the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to proffer solutions to the socio-economic challenges facing Nigeria rather than blaming any political party or individual for the current travails facing the nation.

He also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to be more sensitive to issues that affect ordinary Nigerians.

According to Nairobi News, a 19-year-old University of Nairobi student has been arrested by Police in Nairobi for allegedly killing her boyfriend and father of her unborn child on Tuesday, March 15, following a domestic quarrel at their home in Kangemi.
Kelvin Mugalla Ikatwa, 25, a Bachelor of Arts student at the University of Nairobi and midfielder for the National Super League side, Wazito FC who was fondly known as Razor, was allegedly stabbed to death by Sheila Atemi with a kitchen knife after they had a disagreement over a Facebook post.
It is believed the spat was over a photo of another female posted by the deceased on his Facebook page.
According to Nairobi County Police Commander Japheth Koome, who confirmed the incident,
“When the Police arrived, they found the man already dead and the woman was sitting next to the body of the deceased. He had been stabbed in the neck and the knife was also found at the scene.”
The body was deposited at the Chiromo Mortuary awaiting pot-mortem as the police conduct investigations. Koome said the suspect was due to be arraigned in court and will be charged with murder.

“The girl has been arrested and is in custody. She will go to court for the wrong she has committed,” Koome said.
She was arraigned before a Kibera court on Wednesday. The police asked the court to give them more time to complete investigations. They also told the court they intend to take her for mental examination.
In a press statement, the University of Nairobi’s Wazito Football Club, mourned him as a polished midfielder who was disciplined and committed player since joining the team from Tena FC in 2012.
“Kelvin held Wazito in his heart and gave his all for the betterment of the club and his professional growth,” the club added.
Head coach Francis Xavier, described Mugalla as a quality and professional footballer who had what it takes to play for the national team.
“This is a huge loss. We are depending on him to drive our midfield this season. I think he was on the verge of a breakthrough to a Kenyan Premier League team. In a season or two, he would have been Harambee Stars material,” Xavier said.
He further revealed that they got the shocking news just as they were preparing for training.
“A Kangemi United player who lives nearby called me to confirm the sad news. Everyone was in shock and we stopped the training.”
The club patron Solomon Alubala said: “He was not a temperamental person and when you see it getting to this point, then it must have been something very serious. We are saddened as a team but we will not say much because it is now in the hands of the police,” Alubala disclosed.
Family and friends of Kelvin Mugalla are meeting at his home in Kangemi for burial arrangements. Condolences to the family were also shared by Sports Commissioner Gordon Olioch.
“I advise the youth to seek advice on their social problems from older siblings, close relatives and religious leaders. In the worse case scenario you can quit the relationship1a1aq

Kaduna State Government Has Not Cancelled Easter Holiday - El Rufai. Kaduna Schools Will Not Close Before Easter
Good Friday and Easter Monday are established public holidays, they are mandatory and are declared by the Federal Government.

Pupils and students in Kaduna State will go on Easter Holiday and Good Friday and Easter Monday. It is falsehood and baseless blackmail to suggest that schools must end the second term before Easter.

The school term is not a religious issue. The tendency to place a religious hue on everything is irresponsible. Pupils in Kaduna State will have their Easter break on the prescribed public holidays and return to school to conclude the second term. The curriculum is based on a 12-week term. The schools resumed for second term on 18 January and will complete the 12 weeks in April. Kaduna State will not curtail its school term to 10 weeks. Education cannot be abridged to appease prejudice.

This is Jolade and the love of her life, Dele…They met at their NYSC camp and will be getting married in Ibadan, Oyo State in April. Below is their beautiful pre-wedding photos;1991999

On Wednesday, 16th of March 2016 at 1000 SLT, at a little past noon, Dr. Ogunkunle a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science was reported to have assaulted a student from the Department of Demography and Social Statistics named Alaaka Tobi Jibola.

The student who could not contain the treatment later took to the social media to demand for the prosecution and punishment of Dr Ogunkunle. In his release, he said he actually mistook the venue of a Special Elective course which he had registered for, expected to hold at the same hour with the CHM 102 exam the lecturer was coordinating right in that venue. According to Tobi, just as he was making to leave for the exit, the lecturer called him back, to which he responded and explained himself.

"But in a dramatic turn of event, he landed some repeated slaps on me, dragged my belt buckle, pushing me angrily in an attempt to shove me to the ground but eventually ripped my shirt to shreds." Alaaka Tobi recounted.

The incidence was confirmed to our correspondent who arrived at the scene some minutes after the incidence. Speaking with most of the witnesses available, they posed a similar question "How can a Demography student, someone from Faculty of Social Sciences impersonate for someone writing Chemistry exam which he has never had it's knowledge in his life?"

As at the time of filing this report, efforts to reach Dr Ogunkunle for comment has not yielded any development.
