She is a Petrochemical Engineering student of UNILAG with a very wonderful endowment...
AS incessant strikes and dearth of adequate facilities continue to bolster the number of Nigerian students seeking education abroad, seldom does a month go by without education fairs being held in one major Nigerian city or the other. It is during these unending fairs that recruitment officers and agencies of foreign schools, among other things, impress on prospective students, their parents and guardians that the United Kingdom is no longer the only destination for those seeking quality education. Increasingly, Canada, Russia, Ukraine, Australia, India and New Zealand, Ghana, Benin Republic and South Africa are among options that are popping up strongly.

Endless education fairs, shopping for students

During these education fairs, some fair-minded organisers counsel Nigerian students on the benefits and pitfalls of foreign education. They also lay bare, tiny details that would aid the prospective students make the best possible choices for study as well as help them to map out career paths for themselves after studies.

Organisers also use such fora to brandish the pedigree or educational capacity of the universities or countries they are fronting for, and why Nigerian youths should take more than a passing interest in them.
This was the case when a three-city fair at the behest of Bruhas Educational Services Limited, in conjunction with the Indian High Commission in Nigeria and EdCil (India) Limited took place recently. On November 8 and 11th, Eko Hotel and Suites and the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja respectively played host to hordes of prospective students, their parents, school teachers and administrators, who were there to have audience with representatives of about 50 UK universities and colleges.

The Lagos event was at the instance of the British Council, the UK cultural and educational outfit, which is saddled with such and sundry assignments. While speaking on the rationale behind the fair, a project officer at the council, Sephora Imomoh said, “Studying in any part of the world is about option and not compulsion. But I think more than any other reason, for Nigerians travelling to UK to study is the need to bypass the perennial challenges associated with schools in the country.

For instance, last year, Nigerian varsities went on strike for over five months and some students may really not be pleased with that and considering the fact that one of the greatest strength of UK institutions is the stable academic calendar, the students are certainly attracted.

jonathan billion election-omogist

President Goodluck Jonathan today met with disfavour after he stormed Obafemi Awolowo University in Osun State as part of his political campaign.Angry students of the ancient University today threw stones and sticks at GEJ during his political visit to the institution.

During Jonathan meeting with ttraditional rulers and PDP politicians that held at the Oduduwa Hall today, students carrying placards converged at the entrance of the hall protesting and booing the president. Some of them threw stones at GEJ while he was leaving the event but thankfully the stone didn’t hit him.Angry crowds were shouting “ole” “ole” (“thief”, “thief”) at the president and other notable politicians who attended the event. They displayed placards with inscriptions like: “We Condemn Jos Killing of Students, Students Are Not Chicken”, Don’t Sell Education As You Sold Electricity.”

We Demand Total Reversal of 2014 Hiked School Fees, We are Not Responsible For Jonathan’s Ineptitude.” among other inscriptions

he students who were in their hundreds barricaded the road leading to the school’s sports centre where the chopper wearing the seal of the Federal Government and marked Nigerian Air Force, NAF-280, requesting that President Jonathan should address them before departing the campus.

In the ensuing unrest, the convoy of President Jonathan was delayed for few minutes as the students refused the President and his entourage passage to board the chopper despite pleadings by some security operatives. Also, the Governor of Ekiti state, Mr. Ayodele Fayose who attempted to pacify the angry students was booed as students chorused ‘thief on him.

The vehicle conveying the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade was not spared as students sat at the front of his vehicle for minutes before he was eventually allowed passage. While the President was boarding the chopper, some students continue to aim pebbles at the chopper before they were dispersed by security operatives. although none of the thrown missiles touched the president. Some students who had examinations also expressed their displeasure at the condition they were subjected to owing to President Jonathan’s visit to the campus.

Most of the students had to walk long distance to their examinations’ venues as there was no vehicular movement on campus and its environs. Meanwhile, a segment of the Yoruba people at the conference endorsed President Jonathan for a second term of office even as they urged him to help recover their political and social values.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) yesterday revealed that the management of the Lagos State University (LASU) has withdrawn the PhD certificates of some of its members which include the branch ASUU LASU chairman, Dr. Adekunle Idris.
ASUU Lagos zonal Coordinator, Dr. Sola Nasir, dropped the bombshell at a press briefing held at the old LASU Sociology Department lecture hall of LASU and flanked by ASUU chairmen from University of Lagos, Olabisi Onabanjo University, University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Tai Solarin University of Education and the host ASUU-LASU.

The ASUU-LASU, Dr. Adekunle Idris confirmed that the management withdrew his PhD and that of 13 others from different departments claiming errors were made in the wordings.

According to Dr. Nasir, the LASU management in their letters to the affected lecturers said it discovered some errors in their PhD and asked the holders to return them. He said the union expect them to correct it and produce new ones for Dr. Idris and others.

His words: ‘’The ASUU-LASU chairman, Dr Idris is not alone, there are 14 other lecturers with the Accounting Department having the highest with five. For LASU Senate to have made those errors, it places question mark on the persons that make up the Senate. We can rule that the purpose was to victim some of our members’’.

The ASUU Lagos coordinator called on Governor Babatunde Fashola to set up a visitation panel on LASU and also urged the state government to call the VC to order to give peace a chance.

‘’What we experiencing in LASU is a fall out of the last ASUU-LASU strike. ASUU Lagos zone and national are behind ASUU-LASU. We will fight him (VC) until he is out of the office’’, Dr. Nasir, warned.

Giving details of the PhD withdraw, Dr. Idris, said he concluded his PhD in 2011 and was issued the certificate in 2012 and signed by the current Vice Chancellor, Prof John Obafunwa and the former Registrar, Mr. Lateef Animashaun.

‘’I fulfilled all the conditions before being issued the PhD certificate. It is because of the last ASUU strike, it is a backlash. They are withdrawing the certificate, if I were working abroad what will happen? The Senate that took the decision ended there meeting after 8pm without lunch or dinner for the Professors and others. ‘’Accreditation is coming in December in 2014, five of lecturers whose certificates were withdrawn are from a department that will face National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation team. Th3e issue of certificate withdraw is an act of victimization.

There are 14 persons involved, but I know I am the target. In the letter asking me to return the PhD certificate, no time frame was given unlike others’’. ‘’ My PhD is in the Business Admin (Marketing) but they say the error is the marketing but my counsel has written the Governing Council and VC, Prof Obafunwa on the PhD certificate withdraw’’. Daily Sun gathered that two of those affected in the Accounting Department used same PhD certificates to earn promotion to Associate Professors.

There's a fairly known society girl and ex-model who was raped by some guy from a prominent Lagos family. When I heard about the incident and approached her to report the story and put the guy on blast, she refused. Begged me not to because she didn't want the embarrassment and stigma of being a rape victim. This guy got away with rape.

Ladies, if a man rapes you, you need to speak out. If he gets away with raping you, he will find another victim because he'll believe he's untouchable. Please don't let him get away with raping you.

Now to this story, a cousin of former DG of the Nigerian Stock Exchange Ndi Okereke-Onyuike, and actress Stephanie Okereke's cousin, Prince Daniel Okereke, 37 (pictured above), has been arrested for allegedly raping a 22 year old UNILAG undergraduate named Arinola. And she didn't keep quiet. She fought back by first destroying his property, then she got him arrested. She tells her story after the cut. Please read...

Written by Chioma Igbokwe for Saturday Sun
"When we got to his house, I told him that I was not interested in having sex with him, he called two of his security guards to help him to tie me up and seal my mouth. He then brought out his belt and started flogging me,” says Arionla, a 300 level student who alleged that she was raped by a man, later identified as the cousin of former Director–General of the Nigerian Stock Exchange(NSE), President, Ndi Okereke-Onyuike.
The suspect, Prince Daniel Okereke, 37, was alleged to have lured her into his home at Mende, Maryland, Lagos, subdued her with the aid of his security guard before he pounced on her and raped her severally.

Saturday Sun learnt that after the several rape sessions which lasted for more than 30 minutes, Prince Daniel ordered Arionla to pick her bags and get out of the house. Abused and bitter, Arionla was said to have started destroying the property in his house and also flinging same out of the compound. In the process, the car that belonged to one of the neighbours was destroyed.

Not aware of what could have led to the fracas, the angry neighbour alerted the police attached to Area F, Ikeja who arrested Arionla and accused her of assault. On listening to both sides and overwhelming bruises on Arionla’s body, a case of attempted rape was established and Prince Daniel was arrested and later released on bail while Arinola was rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja for examination and treatment. Saturday Sun further gathered that when Arinola and her family discovered that the case was as good as closed by the police attached to Area F Command, Ikeja, she reported the matter to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti that ordered his re-arrest, having sighted the original copy of the lab test which proved that she was forcefully defiled and the cause of the wound on her body. Still recovering from the scars that had disfigured her beautiful body, Arinola, 6ft tall, and who can be best described as a model, claimed that she saw Prince Daniel as a harmless elder brother who cared about her ailing health.

According to Arinola, 22, and a student of University of Lagos, Akoka, she met Prince Daniel through an online dating site, early last month. “We became friends online and I gave him my number. He kept calling requesting to see me in school and I kept giving him one excuse or the other. He actually said that he wanted me to be his friend and I declined that I am a student and should be allowed to face my studies. “On November 6, 2014, he called me that he was in my school compound. I was sick and told him that I was about to head to the pharmacy to get drugs.

He volunteered to drive me to the pharmacy. I was impressed and grateful for such a kind gesture. After buying the drugs, we drove to the fast food and bought food. He asked me to join him to a seat out joint where I can relax and eat the food. I was surprised when he drove straight to his house at Mende, Maryland.” He said that I will be the one to the bear the shame since the world will ask what I was doing in his house when I was supposed to be in school,” Arinola narrated. “When it dawned on her that the prince is a beast in sheep’s clothing, Arionla stopped struggling and parted her legs for the Prince.

“He raped me severally till he was satisfied. He later removed the ropes and ordered me to get out of his house. I was in pains and knew that since the law will finally release him because of his status, I needed to destroy anything within reach. It was the neighbours whose car was destroyed that alerted the police at Area F, Ikeja. “I wrote my statement and went to the hospital for examination. I was not surprised when I was told that he was granted bail the same day. My family had to report the matter to Panti and he was re-arrested.”

Still dressed in his royal white dress as at press time, Prince Daniel, a businessman, who is also related to Nigerian actress, Stephanie Okereke, blamed the devil for the act. “I am so ashamed of myself. We are family of professionals whom you know very well. I don’t know what got into my head. I am sorry and plead for forgiveness,” Daniel, who said he was single and still searching, pleaded.

When asked why she destroyed the property in his house, Prince Daniel said: “She thought I was going to force her to have sex with me. She started destroying everything which is so expensive,” he said specifically referring to his Chandelier lighting hanging in his living room. When further asked if he eventually slept with her, Prince Daniel said: “Yes, I did. I am very sorry, I need a way out.” Confirming the story as at press time , Police Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu said that the suspect would be charged to court for rape and assault.

According to him, the report got from Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, showed that there was actual penetration in the course of the squabble.

“He will be arraigned along side with one of the security men who assisted the suspected to subdue Tope. Meanwhile, the police is still on the trail of one of the security guards who also participated in assisting the man to tie her up.” Additional report from Vanguard Two men Daniel Okereke 37 and Idris Abubakar 37 were yesterday arraigned before a Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court, over alleged assault and rape and threat to life. The defendants who are businessman and a security Guard respectively were docked before Magistrate Y. O Aje-Afunwa. They are facing a five count charge bordering on conspiracy, assault, rape and threat to life preferred against them by the police.

The police prosecutor Superintendent Godwin Anyanwu, told the court that the defendants committed the alleged offence on November 6, 2014. He said that the incident took place at Mende, Maryland in Ikeja area of Lagos state between 2:30-11pm. He said that the first defendant allegedly raped and assaulted one lady (names withheld).

A team of medical personnel are battling to save the life of Mrs. Mary-Ann Oguezuonu, a female teacher at Obosima Secondary Technical School, Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, who was brutalized by irate male students of the college.
Reports  documented by Obosima revealed that the students attacked the nursing mother with machetes.
According to VanguardNgr the teacher’s alleged offence was that she spotted a female student that changed her school uniform into a skimpy outfit and threatened that the college authorities would send her packing if she wore such an indecent dress to school again.
It was also gathered that while Mrs. Oguezuonu was cautioning the JSS2 student, a male SS1 student jumped into the classroom and rudely confronted the teacher on why she was embarrassing the female student.
“The male student, who was not satisfied with the verbal insults he heaped on the teacher, went further to grab Mrs. Oguezuonu’s blouse,” a student told Vanguard.

The student recalled that the ensuing noise attracted other teachers to the class and the offending student was dragged to the staff room where he was flogged. Another teacher told Vanguard:

“While still cuddling her five-month old baby in the staff room, the irate male student mobilized others, suspected to be fellow cult members. They came into the staff room, armed with cutlasses and attacked the teacher.”
When contacted, the teacher’s relation, Mr. Francis Moore, confirmed the story and pointed out that the matter had been reported to the police.
“The matter has been reported to the police and some arrests have been made, but the main suspect, Chimaobi Precious Agu, is still at large at the time of this telephone interview.”
Below is a report I just received from a student from the school. Read below...
A student of Computer Science Department of University of Calabar name withheld almost lost his sight after a lecturer known as Chris Otu in the Department of Economics, University of Calabar stabbed him with his-car key during lecture hour.

According to an eye-withness Mr Otu was supposed to have a class with year 3 students of Computer Science Department by, today 21 Nov. but he failed to appear after keeping the students waiting for two hours, he later appeared by 12-noon.

After the lecturer's arrival, the waiting students assembled themselves at the lecture venue New CES building room 7 behind Unical Library.
The victimized student who is the lecturer's class rep. took white board markers to the lecturer (Mr. Otu) which is a regular routine in various Universities in Nigeria. But the lecturer for no reason premeditatedly used a book in his hand to hit the student on his head and as if that was not enough, he stabbed him with his car key and walked him out of the class.
The injury was bleeding profusely when the lecturer who felt zero remorse told the injured student and other students in the class to go and ask around who he is.
Mr Chris Otu who lost one of his eyes during a battle is believed to be an ex-cultist and because this is Nigeria, he claims nothing can be done to him.
Now, they decided to take the case to the media. Hope the university authority will look into this...

Some students in a school in Slovenia shared a video online claiming they caught their headmaster giving oral sex to a female maths teacher during school  hours.

The 41-year-old headmaster, Drago Kamenik, was allegedly found by students between the legs of 45-year-old teacher, Manja Mertelj after they heard moans of pleasure coming from a classroom that was supposedly empty. Choi. #Luckywoman...:-). Continue...

The embarrassed headteacher first threatened to sue the students who uploaded the video on Youtube then later denied it was him after the video went viral in their country. One of the students said; ‘We heard the noises and knew someone was having sex in there, but we thought it would be other students. We couldn’t believe it when we saw our maths teacher and headmaster.’

The headmaster, who is a married father-of-two, sclaims the video is fake, and says he has reported the clip to police, according to Slovenske Novice.

"The man in the video is not me, it has been photoshopped. I also spoke to my wife. Can these fools even begin to imagine what damage they have caused by doing this?! As for the maths teacher, she is a very good teacher and has had many positive things said about her.’ he said.

Another student called his bluff and said that: ‘We can put up more to prove it but I don’t think anyone really doubts us.'

Student had sex with sheep says stressed about exams-omogist
Three bizarre News: a university student who is alleged to have had sex with a sheep told police he was stressed out about a midterm exam. The 23-year-old is alleged to have been found having s ex with a ewe by a fellow Fresno State University student who heard bizarre noises coming from a barn on campus.

And the unidentified student, who was arrested and charged with sexual assault of an animal, told police that he was stressed about an upcoming exam and had been drinking, according to ABC7.

‘It’s just kind of disgusting and revolting and personally makes me angry. I mean, why would you do that?’ said Marisa Burkdoll, a student who works with animals on campus. ‘It’s just kind of sick. It’s unnatural and the animals they can’t really, I mean they can’t defend themselves. They can to an extent but they’re innocent, you know what I mean?’ The sheep – one of many used for breeding at the school – is being treated by vets.
Not all young girls in universities easily admit that they have boyfriends. Their male counterparts, many of them claim, are a source of distraction.

Therefore, in the thinking a good number of female undergraduates, there is no need to keep boyfriends on campus. But this is not the thinking of the University of Ilorin 2013/2014 best Anatomy graduating student, Fatima Sulaimon.

The 22-year-old is not just proud of her boyfriend, she is also happy with the relationship.

According to her, her boyfriend is the elixir for her success. She said, “He encouraged, inspired and assisted me to excel in my studies.”

Sulaimon, with a Cumulative Grade Average Point of 4.80, not only emerged as one of the 48 first class graduates this year, she is also the first female to obtain that grade in Anatomy in the history of the 29-year-old university.

Claiming however that the relationship with her boyfriend was a ‘normal friendship devoid of untoward indulgences’, she stated that the young man gave her a lot of psychological support.

The lass added, “He encouraged me. At times, even if I woke up in the night and I felt dizzy, I would just put a call across to him and after discussing with him, I would feel okay. He was more of a friend. He encouraged, inspired and assisted me.”

Claiming she was never involved in ‘sorting’ bribing lecturers for scores – or was never sexually harassed by lecturers and students in the institution, she noted that she read at least six hours daily aside from lectures and other academic engagements. A Nupe from the Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, Sulaimon attended Ipakodo Junior Grammar School, Lagos between 2003 and 2006 and Ipakodo Senior Grammar School between 2006 and 2009, posting excellent results in his West African Senior School Certificate Examinations and national Examinations Council. She explained, “I never did sorting. I never heard of such in the university. I also never suffered sexual harassment or undue overtures from lecturers and even from my colleagues. The lecturers did not know me until 400 levels; even then, they were all nice. “I thank God for the feat I recorded. I am happy and fulfilled because to make a first class is not an easy feat. “I did not really have social life. I am not the type that goes out. I like playing games. I sleep reasonably. I read most of the times if I am not in class. I read at least six hours daily outside lectures and other academic engagements. “Undergraduates should be prayerful in life. They should abide by the rules and regulations of any institution they are. If they obey school regulations, they will not become victims. ” Another graduate, who obtained first class in Electrical Engineering from the university, Ahmed Aleshinloye, said it was not an easy accomplishment for him. Ahmed, from Ibaja, Ifelodun Council Area, who scored a CPGA of 4.50, stated that he achieved the academic glory through commitment. The 21-year-old son of a lawyer, Raheem Aleshinloye, said, “I feel great obtaining first class from UNILORIN. Considering the current rating of Nigerian universities today, the institution is the first and it requires diligence and commitment to excel there. When I entered the school five years ago, I was told that it would not be easy, but today I am leaving the ivory tower alongside 47 others with first class.”

Omotayo was a gifted student who attended one of the city’s top high school’s, Harlem’s HS for Math, Science and Engineering.
At the time of her death last May, the 17-year-old Nigerian immigrant had also been juggling advanced classes at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and waiting to hear if she had qualified for a National Achievement Scholarship for college. The Bronx junior, who was one of four siblings, reportedly had aspirations of one day becoming a doctor.
However, Omotayo had also reportedly run away from home several times, struggled with bouts of depression, and was considered to be anti-social.
When Omotayo got busted peeking at her cellphone while taking a German test, the teacher allegedly snatched it away, accusing her of cheating and yelling at her. Omotayo reportedly burst into tears while apologizing profusely to the instructor.  A few hours after the emotional exchange between the teacher and Omotayo, according to police investigators, the young girl scrawled the following words on her German language exam that read, “I just want to go away forever on the bottom of the river.”
After Omotayo handed in her test paper and asked to go to the restroom, she never returned to the classroom.
Instead, the teen walked to Manhattan’s Hudson River’s edge in Harlem, placed her identification on a rock, then plunged in to the murky waters.

She could not swim.

Fishermen who were taken aback by what they saw could not get to the child in time to save her. according to police reports.

The men told police, Omotayo almost appeared to be forcing herself under the water, as her head continuously bobbed up and down, then suddenly disappeared. Now Adeoye’s court-filed papers reportedly state that even though the teacher had immediate possession of the suicide note, the school’s staff “…failed to prevent (the teenager) from leaving the school.”

The heartbroken Mom also claims that the school waited too long before police were summoned. Adeoye is also contesting that the fact that her daughter even cheated at all stating that the accusation was never verified. According to the Mom, Omotayo had attempted suicide on another occasion, so the teacher was well aware of the girl’s fragile mental state.

“The school really let the family down,” contends Jonathan Michaels, Adeoye’s attorney. “They promised to watch out for her and help her cope with the academic pressures, but they didn’t.”

This Man was caught with a secondary school girl in a hotel having a great time “indeed”, Little did he know that his own wife traced him to the hotel, and called people to see what her so called husband is doing with a little girl in a hotel

A polytechnic graduate (name withheld) has died in a lake situated at Aba Apata, Adegbayi, in Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The deceased, eyewitness told the Nigerian Tribune, committed suicide after he claimed he was fed up with life, having searched for job after graduation to no avail.
He then decided to jump into the river.
The eyewitness, who is a resident of the area, said: “what we heard was that the man is a polytechnic graduate and has looked for job after graduation which he could not find. Before he jumped into the river, he dropped his documents by the river bank and that was how we could locate his relatives.”
When the Nigerian Tribune visited the site of the lake, the corpse of the deceased was still floating on the water, as it could be seen from afar.

A fisherman, Taofeek Dauda, who usually hunt for fish for commercial purpose in the lake, informed that: “His parents were here, and I told them to pay N30,000 so I can bring out the corpse with my canoe. I also told them that the money covers the materials we are going to use to perform some rituals before he could be buried, because it is very important to do such for whoever dies in this kind of circumstance.” He further told the Nigerian Tribune that many lives had been lost inside the lake because it was very big and was not barricaded. Nigerian Tribune, however, paid a visit to the Egbeda Local Government secretariat on the Ibadan-Ife road to know what the local government was doing in that regard, where the Director of Information in the council, Mrs Yetunde Samson, said it was only the chairman that could comment on the matter and informed that the chairman was not in the office.
